In the beginning...

With a new decade beginning I thought I might dabble in the wonderful world of the Blog. I have decided to make a record of mountain living, due to the fact that I live in the mountains, and to the fact that every friend I may have come across in my lifetime is now connected to me via Facebook. There is always a curiosity about the small town I have chosen to live in, and the 600" plus inches of snow I have chosen to live under. Nick, my perfect husband, and I live in our house in Victor, Id. We do not have any human children as of yet, but do in fact plan to start in the near future. Meanwhile, we do have three non human sons in order of age; Tuaca, Summit, and Tucker. The Marlar family consists of the five of us, there no doubt will be many pictures of our four legged children to come. So back to the question at hand, why record mountain living?
I record the lifestyle to show why I gave up the big city of 4.5 million to live in a town of 1,500. To show what a community, outdoor enthusiast, and love of nature all have in common. To record the breathtaking views, miraculous natural experiences, and adventurous outdoor games. To give insight to those who question why I live the lifestyle I do.
Sure there are times I would love a mall, movie theater, P.F.Changs, or a Target, but the sacrifice is well worth it. Victor is a different world, a world devoid of fast food chains, traffic, crime, pollution, and crowds. A world of perpetual paradise, the easy life. Time seems to slow down here. People seem to notice the little things more often. Like a sundog in the sky, the dust of glitter floating in the air on a blue bird day after a huge powder dump, the moose drinking from the creek on the early morning commute, and the northern lights painting the night sky. As I notice these things, as mountain life happens, I will record them and share them here for you.
